Spirit of the living God, this morning help us to be consciously grateful for all that we take for granted. Help us to be consciously aware and grateful of our surroundings, of the beauty of your holiness. Help us to be consciously grateful for being healthy enough to be able to experience the cold of winter, the wetness and the scent of the rain, the beauty of the snow, the love and devotion of our pets, the sound of the voices of the people whom we love. God, help us to be consciously grateful for the friends that we have, for having survived the trials that we have endured, and for still being on our feet after some battles we have fought. God, help us to inhale the newness of this day with a resolve to milk the day for all that it is worth. Help us to walk in faith and to live in hope; help us to smile when we would rather not, to elevate someone even if we don’t feel elevated, to push ourselves toward something which we never thought of doing or trying and to be consciously grateful that we can, in fact, do that. Help us to be consciously grateful if we have food on our tables if we can pay our bills, and if have socks to put on on a cold, wet day. Spirit of the living God, help us to be consciously grateful on this day – and on all days.
